Language, on one hand, is the most basic necessity towards communication. Media, on the other hand, spreads news like wildfire. Combining both together, it equates to the job of a journalist. The public relies on the journalist to get hold of the first hand news and then report it back to them. With the absence of the journalist, the information-hungry citizenry would be deprived of the news that they are yearning for.
Personal values
Journalism is organized gossip. Although I am not very organized, I can safely say that I love to gossip. Sharing is part of what I am, and I strongly believe that being able to share is more fortunate than being able to receive.
On top of that, I cannot stand people being ignorant of issues happening. Therefore, to do myself a favour, I would want to report as many issues I can within my means and to allow as many people to be able to read what i have to report.
Therefore, it has always been a dream and an ambition of mine to be a journalist. A journalist ultimately takes the role of a mediator and the middleman between the public and the policy making elites.
Strengths
Responsibility - I strongly believe that responsibility is of utmost importance in this occupation. A journalist must understand libel law and not cross borders regarding sensitive issues.
Inquisitiveness - There is an indefinite number of questions to be asked and to be answered. The journalist need to be persistent and have the ability to probe in order to juice news to quench the thirsty public.
Accommodating - I feel that the aspect of being accommodating is of utmost importance to a journalist. He must be patient yet eager and must be versatile in all situations.
Weakness
Inexperience - I am new to the industry but i feel that passion and hard work will triumph over talent in the long run. Do expect that I would need time to adapt. But once i pick things up, I will be able to persist in the long haul.
